How this reading is made
Every CrystalCore reading is calculated: the same date of birth always returns the same result, by the arithmetic set out below. Each interpretation follows the literature listed in the bibliography, and where the step from a date to a result is our own convention rather than the source’s, we say so, along with what the reading does not claim to know.
What we calculate
We add every digit of your birth date — the day, the month and all four digits of the year — into a single total. That total is what carries the meaning. For 8 January 1954: 0+8+0+1+1+9+5+4 = 28, and 2+8 = 10, giving Ruling Number 10. You can check it on paper in under a minute, and we would rather you did. We never reduce the day, month and year separately before adding them, because that destroys the information Phillips reads from the total.
Where the meaning comes from
Phillips arranges the numbers across three planes: Physical (1, 4, 7), Soul (2, 5, 8) and Mind (3, 6, 9). Your position on that grid drives the reading — an 8 sits at the active end of the Soul Plane, a 9 at the action end of the Mind Plane — and the wording of your profile follows his descriptions closely. The two master numbers sit apart from the grid: 11 is the highest spiritual number, and 22 is the double 11 underpinned by the practical 4. Only one birth-date total produces a Ruling 2 and only one produces a Ruling 22, which is why those two are the rarest in the system.
What we don't claim
Phillips' system has eleven Ruling Numbers: 2 through 11, and 22. There is no Ruling 1 — that class is called 10 — and no Ruling 33. Both are later additions belonging to other schools of numerology, so if you have seen yourself described as a 1 or a 33 elsewhere, this is why our number differs. We follow the book. Your birth date is our only input, and we describe character and tendency rather than predicting events.
